Vana Maitri Screen

Across air, water and land, the Ramayana populates its world with creatures who become companions, witnesses and participants in its unfolding tale. Vana Maitri draws the vulture, crocodile and an army of monkeys, Vanara, into an exuberant forest reminiscent of Madhuvana, the “honey forest” where the Vanara celebrate nature’s bounty. Amid the foliage, monkeys carry bows, flags, instruments and rockets—symbols that shift between the festive and the martial. In this ambiguity, the forest becomes both a place of delight and a reminder of the forces that shape its story.
